Like many of my country's remote villages, San Antonio de Oriente is very charming and picturesque, and easy to fall in love with. Besides the beautiful and friendly people, there are many other reasons why this town is very special and a standout among others; the way the tile roofs seem to overlap each other if you look at the town from certain angles, the underappreciated and old-fashioned streets that are built with rounded stones, the small and very spooky but unique cemeteries, and of course, the influence of the catholic religion which is prominently noticed in the town’s main attraction: its white washed church that stands prominently at the top of a hill, seeming to give you a big and impactful welcome to the town that built it.

Josè Antonio Velásquez, who is a much renowned Honduran painter, lived many
years here, and some of his most admired works of art are inspired in this town
(I’ve attached a couple along with my photographs).
San Antonio de Oriente is located about an hour or so away from the valley of El Zamorano. El Zamorano is a college town, itself an hour away from Tegucigalpa that is mainly the host to an agricultural college who sells the student's very fresh products and produce, and is very much loved by “capitalinos” or the people from Tegucigalpa.
I’ll try not to bore you with more tedious information, and leave you to enjoy the pictures and fall in love with San Antonio de Oriente.
